How It Works

01

Survey & Recommendation

A Gas Safe-registered engineer visits your property to inspect pipework, radiators and hot water demand, then recommend the right combi, system or regular boiler for your home.

02

Safe Installation & Optional System Flush

We carry out a fully Gas Safe-compliant installation, offering an optional powerflush where sludge or poor circulation is present to protect the new boiler and improve performance.

03

Commissioning, Handover & Certification

After commissioning we test the system, register the manufacturer warranty where applicable and leave paperwork and operating instructions. A 1-year workmanship guarantee is included.

Combi, system or regular: which boiler suits your home?

Every job starts with a site survey that checks boiler location, gas supply, system type and hot water needs, so we can explain the pros and cons of each option for your home.

  • Combi boiler: heats water straight from the mains as you use it, so there's no hot water cylinder and no tanks in the loft. It suits flats, terraces and most homes with one bathroom, where one tap or shower runs at a time.

  • System boiler: heats a hot water cylinder, usually in the airing cupboard, but needs no loft tanks. It suits semis and detached homes with two bathrooms or more, where showers often run at the same time.

  • Regular (conventional) boiler: works with a hot water cylinder and a cold water tank in the loft. It's common in older homes, where it's often the simplest swap.

Changing type means more pipework and a longer job than a like-for-like swap.

What affects the cost of a new boiler?

We price every installation after the survey. The main things that change the price are:

  • The size of your home: a larger house or more bathrooms needs a more powerful boiler.

  • The type of boiler: a combi, system or regular boiler, and the make and model you choose.

  • Changing type or moving the boiler: taking out tanks or a cylinder, or moving the boiler to a new room, adds pipework and time.

  • Missing or tired pipework and radiators: older systems may need new pipes, valves or radiators for the new boiler to work properly.

  • The state of the system: where there's sludge, a powerflush protects the new boiler.

  • Controls: a standard programmer and thermostat, or a smart thermostat.

Your written quote sets out each of these.

Boiler controls and thermostats

A boiler is only as efficient as its controls. In England, the Boiler Plus rules mean every new gas boiler must be fitted with a timer and room thermostat, and a new combi also needs one extra energy-saving feature, such as a smart thermostat with automation and optimisation, or weather or load compensation. We'll recommend controls that suit your routine and set them up before we leave.

Accreditations, documentation and aftercare. Installations are Gas Safe-compliant and completed by accredited engineers with manufacturer registration where applicable, so extended warranties may be available on selected boilers. We include commissioning paperwork and can advise on landlord CP12 requirements. Once your boiler is in, a yearly boiler service keeps it running well and helps keep the manufacturer's warranty valid.
